Introducing the Jimmy Alverson Memorial Scholarship Fund
Introducing the Jimmy Alverson Memorial Scholarship Fund
At FCKLL, we are committed to ALL kids having the opportunity to play baseball. We welcome those from diverse backgrounds, those who are differently-abled, those who play all the sports, and those who have never played a sport before. This commitment includes scholarship funds for any family that needs help covering registration fees.
While we have a history of providing scholarships for players, we are tremendously proud to introduce a standalone scholarship fund in 2024. The Jimmy Alverson Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established in memory of our beloved teammate and FCKLL alumnus, Jimmy Alverson.
Jimmy was diagnosed with cancer in 2015, when he was 12 years old and completing his Little League career. That year,
Jimmy won the Bill Rose award, which is given annually to a player who loves the game and shows attitude, effort, leadership, dedication, enthusiasm, maturity, and courtesy. Jimmy passed away in late 2023 but his impact on our League will never be forgotten.
Jimmy’s brother John is also a League alumnus, and his father Jim was a longtime Board member. The current Board is very pleased to introduce the Scholarship Fund named for Jimmy, and can think of no better way to honor him than by helping the next generation of Little Leaguers have opportunities to learn the game of baseball.
