Heading into May

There’s no crying in baseball but I got a little misty yesterday when I saw the progress on our baseball field renovation at the James Lee Community Center. Visit us on Facebook and Instagram (@fckll.va) to see the progress unfold. We will begin scheduling League events at James Lee soon. This project is a big deal – in addition to a beautiful new field, you can expect ample parking, basketball courts, a playground, and indoor bathrooms (!!!). This is a multi-phase project and we’ve only just begun. This is possible thanks to you – our generous community of donors – along with our partners at James Lee and our hardworking VP of Operations, Sean Pipia.

Please help this project reach completion by giving generously to Hit A Thon, our only player fundraiser of the year. Hit A Thon 2022 supports the James Lee field and player scholarships. Find your player here, and send their unique fundraising link to friends and family. Every player has a $100 goal; prizes are signed Nats baseballs and Nats box seats for the top fundraisers, and Nats tickets for the top fundraising teams. Our Fundraising team and your Managers will continue to share info over the next two weeks. Right now we’re only at 33% of our goal but I know our League will meet and exceed the target. Hitting takes place during team events the week of May 9th

…and ends with the Adult Home Run Derby and Hit-A-Thon, May 14, 6pm at Westgate Lower. You can expect music, food trucks, friendly competition, and lots of dingers. Men, women, and everyone age 14+ may participate that evening. All the details and adult registration link available here. This was SO MUCH FUN last year and you won’t want to miss it. Participate or just watch – we want to see you at Westgate on May 14. Plan to show some FCKLL pride that night: Our Team Store is always open!

See below for all the other great things coming soon, including the addition of Little League Night at Meridian High School, and see you at Photo Day tomorrow!

Season championships games for Single A, AA, AAA, and Majors are also Saturday, May 21 (these games feature “first half” vs. “second half” champs – we will announce first half winners as soon as we wrap up a few pesky rescheduled rainouts).

Week of May 23: The Postseason Tournament begins for Single A through Majors. All teams Single A+ play until they lose. There are no games on Saturday, May 28 (unless rain forces rescheduling). Tournament Championship Games are Saturday, June 4 (see below for more on that).

Monday, May 30: The Falls Church Memorial Day Parade returns after a hiatus, and once again we will participate! Time is approximately 1-3pm, details coming in May. Optional for players at all levels. This is a great kickoff to summer! Can you help herd cats? Contact [email protected] to offer a hand.

Saturday, June 4: Closing Day, featuring tournament championship games for Single A-Majors and the Spring 2022 Closing Ceremony for all who wish to attend.
