Well, this week was a little soggy. We’re hoping all fields will be playable tomorrow, and we’re happy to see that the forecast looks better next week. Thanks as always to the dozens of volunteers who work so hard to maintain our fields – many of whom are putting in extra hours this week. Here’s how to determine if an event is canceled or moved due to inclement weather.
We have several fun things coming up:
· Falls Church High School is hosting a pair of Little League nights this month! Come out to a HS baseball game and see FCKLL alumni take the field. Games are at 6:30pm on Wednesday, April 13 (Varsity) and Friday, April 29 (JV). Wear your jersey for free entry and concessions. Click here to register and for details.
· Marshall High School is hosting a similar event at their Varsity baseball game on Monday, April 25 at 6:30. Cheer for our alums, wear your jersey for free admission (no registration required), and stay to run the bases afterwards!
· FCKLL Photo Day is Saturday, April 30. Your manager will share report time, location, and order forms later this month.
And (re)introducing… our annual Player Hit-A-Thon and, back by popular demand, the Adult Home Run Derby!
Hit-A-Thon fundraising opens April 18; players will be invited to swing for the fences as part of regularly scheduled team events the week of May 9. We have prizes from the Washington Nationals for top fundraisers (team and individual). This is the only annual fundraiser involving players and we hope everyone will participate! The money we raise helps provide scholarships so everyone can play ball, and will go toward a very exciting field rehabilitation project, which you will hear more about soon.
The 2nd annual Adult Home Run Derby is Saturday, May 14, under the lights at Westgate. Start time 6pm, registration info coming soon, and the food truck is already confirmed! Ask anyone who attended last year – it was a blast! Mark your calendars to see if Sally Roever and Anthony Verdi can defend their titles on May 14!
