Field Captain Program 2024

Field Captains, or FCs, are FCKLL community volunteers that are assigned to every field in the FCKLL portfolio (currently there are ten). They maintain awareness of facility conditions by conducting regular inspections, performing minor maintenance tasks, and collaborating with other FCKLL volunteers to ensure field playability.

Responsibilities include:

• “Adopt” an assigned field and maintain general awareness of conditions throughout the playing season
• Use a steel drag and grooming rake twice per week to “dress” their assigned field
• Use a paint liner and string line to properly mark foul lines and the batter’s box prior to gameday
• Repair holes on the field, particularly the pitcher’s mound and batter’s box
• Coordinate with Level Coordinators and coaches after a weather event to dry fields without causing damage
• Regularly inspect facility and equipment for safety concerns or emerging issues
• Monitor field supply inventory and notify Ops when restocking is necessary
• Nail drag infield twice per week (WG1, ID2, ID3, LCW only)
