What to Expect and When

Here’s what you can expect next:

Over the next 10 days, numbers are being crunched, drafts are being conducted (at Double A and higher), and teams are being formed.

Majors players will be contacted by their Managers this weekend; practices begin March 22.

AAA will follow soon thereafter, then AA, then Single A and tee ball. Everyone will hear from their Manager by the end of March, and everyone will be practicing by the first of April. If you need something in the meantime, please contact [email protected]

Opening Day is April 10. This event will be virtual as we can’t yet have all players and families gathered in one location – stay tuned for info on that, and your team’s game schedule.

The season runs through May 27, with playoffs June 2-12 for Single A and up. We hope to be able to hold a Closing Day ceremony, in person, on June 12.

Two opportunities this weekend:

Stock up and save on gear with our partners at Dick’s Sporting Goods. Save 20% at the Bailey’s Crossroads store, March 19-22

This Saturday, March 20, help us get the fields ready for play!  Sign up for a shift to fulfill your 2021 volunteer requirement: Questions or interested in a partial shift? Contact [email protected]

COVID safety:

Our Spring 2021 COVID response plan is on www.fckll.org. Please familiarize yourself with the Family and Player Safety Guidelines (aka “One-Pager”). You’ll hear more about all of this from your Manager and your team’s COVID Coaches.

Our guidelines follow those of the state, including Executive Order 72, and the CDC. We will adjust our plans as conditions evolve.

Just like last fall, all players and volunteers must complete an online screening prior to every FCKLL event.  Go ahead and bookmark covid.fckll.org on your phone so you can easily complete the form as needed!

Everyone – players, spectators, and volunteers – must wear a CDC-approved mask at this time. Pitchers and catchers optional while in their positions on the field; young children and those with respiratory problems should use discretion. You can read more about this in our COVID documents. The Falls Church gaiters distributed last year are permitted; we recommend you double them up. We will not distribute gaiters as part of this year’s uniform; players and their families may choose whatever approved mask works best for them.

Social distancing is still important for players and spectators alike. The only players in the dugout will be on deck and in the hole – everyone else will be spaced out on bleachers and down the fence. Spectators may not be in the bleachers or behind home plate – there is plenty of room to spread out down the fence and in the outfield.

We know there are a lot of opinions about COVID!  Please follow the guidelines from the league and your team, along with posted signage. Our fields belong to the County parks authority and school system – if we don’t follow their rules, we could lose our field access. Thanks for your cooperation. Please send questions or feedback to [email protected]

Our partners at the Washington Nationals created this one-minute star-studded video for our use – please watch it with your players and help them get ready for a SAFE and FUN season. We ask that families watch this video, then discuss the COVID safety guidelines with their players, before the season starts.
