Your FCKLL Board is already busy planning for a safe and successful Spring season. Please read below for important updates and reminders.
Assessments
As in previous years, all players League Age 8+ must be assessed, with the only exception being returning Majors players. Everyone makes a team (no “cuts”); assessments are a mechanism to make sure every player is at the appropriate level of play for their skillset. Tentative dates for assessments, which will be outdoors this year, are March 6 and 13. We are working through a process to keep these assessments safe and efficient. The most up-to-date info is always posted in the calendar on fckll.org, and be on the lookout for emails in the new year, regarding your player’s assessment timeslot, what to bring, etc.
COVID and FCKLL
We have a working group focused on COVID response and safety planning. The group is closely monitoring guidelines from the CDC, Virginia, local authorities, and Little League International. We intend to run a safe Spring campaign, following all COVID guidance available to us at that time, to keep our players, families, and volunteers as safe as possible. Thank you for your patience, flexibility, and continued support.
Upcoming Dates
- Dec 31: Early Bird Registration ends. Note: this includes a $20 discount per player (which FCKLL kindly asks you to consider donating back to the League, as 2020 Fundraising, including Hit-A-Thon, was negatively impacted by COVID).
- Feb 14: Registration closes. Make sure you register by Valentine’s Day! After that, late registration fees apply and there are other hoops to jump through. Please check the FCKLL registration portal for details.
- Mar 6 and 13: Assessments, weather permitting (March 7 and 14 as alternate dates).
- Mid-March: Team Formation. Please check the calendar at fckll.org for tentative timing of mandatory coaches’ meetings and draft dates.
- Late March: Practices start.
- Apr 10: Opening Day!
